Fri 11:00 PM in Crystal Ballroom Three (1 hour)
VERSUS (755)

[Panelists: Tony Finan (mod), Phil Kahn, Shira Lipkin, J. Andrew
World, Genevieve Iseult Eldredge]

The return of the panel where YOU, the audience, ask the panelists
“Who would win if X&Y had a fight?” This is a panel for those with
a mature sensibility, and aren’t easily offended (we like to WORK at
offending you…)

Sat 10:00 AM in Plaza IV (Four) (1 hour)
THE BUSINESS OF ART (881)

[Panelists: J. Andrew World (mod), Heidi Hooper, Sally Wiener
Grotta, Alan Beck]

A look at the nuts and bolts of working as an artists. Topics may
include generating revenue, cash flow, running your art business,
marketing and promotion, and finding a good accountant

Sat 11:00 AM in Plaza IV (Four) (1 hour)
SPACE ART – CAPTURING THE UNIVERSE (886)

[Panelists: N. Taylor Blanchard (mod), Karl Kofoed, Mike McPhail, J.
Andrew World]

An overview of the “space art” genre, and how it has changed over
time. We will also examine what goes into capturing the beauty of
the stars in a work of art

Sat 1:00 PM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
I DON’T KNOW ART, BUT I KNOW WHAT I LIKE. (883)

[Panelists: J. Andrew World (mod), Kyle Cassidy, Heidi Hooper, David
E. Christman]

How do you explain to someone what makes one work of art better than
another? What are some of the things to look for when looking at a
painting, sculpture, or photo

Sat 2:00 PM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
COMICS: THE ART OF SEQUENTIAL STORYTELLING (869)

[Panelists: James Chambers (mod), Phil Kahn, Brian Koscienski, J.
Andrew World, Ahlen Moin]

A discussion of how to use art and dialogue to tell your story,
panel by panel

Sat 8:00 PM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
SEXY ALIEN PRINCESSES, AND A CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF: SEXISM IN COMICS
(867)

[Panelists: Joan Wendland (mod), Phil Kahn, F. Michael Yates, J.
Andrew World]

Sexism has long been an issue in mainstream comics, but recently
certain comics have once again fanned the flames (as anyone who read
“Red Hood and the Outlaws #1″ or “Catwoman #1″ can attest). Is it
really so hard to portray women in comics without turning them into
schoolboy fantasy objects

Sun 11:00 AM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
I DIDN’T KNOW THAT WAS A COMIC! (901)

[Panelists: Allyn Gibson (mod), JJ Brannon, F. Michael Yates, J.
Andrew World]

In the 1930′s and ’40′s, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers were the
best-known science fiction characters on the silver screen. But
most people today don’t know that, before they got there, they were
comic strips that appeared in newspapers! Even today, many people
don’t know that movies like “Men In Black” or “300″ were based on
comic books. In this panel we’ll take a looks at movies and TV
shows that were comics FIRST

Sun 12:00 PM in Plaza III (Three) (1 hour)
NON-SUPERHERO COMICS… IT’S NOT ALL CAPES AND SPANDEX! (873)

[Panelists: Ted Rickles (mod), Bill Olver, F. Michael Yates, J.
Andrew World, Allyn Gibson, Ahlen Moin]

While most people thing of superheroes when they think of comics,
there are a large number of titles published that have nothing to do
with superheroes. Our panel discusses some of the better comics out
there that don’t have superheroes, but still have plenty of fun.
